Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects found in possession of game trophies.
The suspects, 63 year old Mwendwa Ngura Ngavu and his accomplice 56 year old ,Serah Norah Mwendwa, have been arrested after authorities discovered three pieces of elephant tusks in their possession.
Acting on intelligence, police officers and KWS team raided their home in Kavuvwani village in Mwingi Central Sub-County.
After a thorough search of their house, the team found the illicit elephant tusks.
The suspects are currently being held at Mwingi police station, before their arraignment in court. The recovered tusks have been kept safe, to be used as exhibit.
This highlights the effectiveness of joint operation by government agencies to protect endangered wildlife.
