Mother appeals for help after her two-year-old daughter was kidnapped in Mumias

A family in Mumias, Kakamega County, is living through an agonizing ordeal after their two-year-old daughter vanished alongside a teenager they had taken into their home.

It has been a month of pure agony for the 44 year old mother, Sarah Nanjala Wanjala. Her daughter, Abigile Amani, went missing on July 26th from their home in Bomani.

According to Nanjala, the child was taken by 18-year-old Aliya, a teenager Nanjala rescued off the streets of Nairobi near the OTC area and brought home after reporting the matter to Mukuru kwa Reuben Police Station.

On that afternoon, Aliya allegedly left with the toddler, six hundred shillings, and some clothes.

Neighbours reported seeing the teenager walk away with little Amani. Since then, Nanjala has searched endlessly—travelling all the way to Kapchorua in Mount Elgon, where Aliya claimed to be from, but with no success.

The disappearance has left Nanjala traumatised and suffering from a stress-related illness appealing to anyone with information on the whereabouts of her daughter to report to the nearest police station

Meanwhile, Kakamega County Police Commander Tom Achiya says the matter is being investigated by the DCI officers.
