The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a stern warning against goons involved in violent clashes that erupted during a public meeting presided over by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki in Nembure, Embu County.

In a statement dated September 12, 2026, NPS reported that a group of uninvited individuals stormed Kindiki’s meeting, prompting the officers to use force to disperse them.

According to the police, one person was killed, while several others were injured during the incident. 

At the same time, properties worth millions of shillings, including six cars, were also destroyed and burned.

“The National Police Service condemns in the strongest possible terms the outrageous and criminal conduct of a group of individuals who attempted to storm a public meeting presided over by the Deputy President, H.E. Prof. Kithure Kindiki, in Nembure, Embu County,” read part of the NPS statement.

However, several suspects linked to the deadly incident were also arrested before normalcy was restored at the scene.

“Upon the group’s unlawful attempt to breach the meeting, officers acted decisively and repulsed the assailants. Several suspects were arrested at the scene, and law and order was swiftly restored,” police reported.

Meanwhile, investigations have been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and arrest those who planned the chaos.

“Regrettably, one person was fatally injured, six vehicles were torched, and several persons were injured during the chaos. Investigations have commenced to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident, and no effort will be spared in identifying and bringing to justice all persons involved.”

“Let this serve as an unequivocal warning: any individual found to have participated in this or any similar act of lawlessness will be pursued relentlessly. Stern action will be taken in accordance with the law. There will be no exceptions,” police said.
