Several activists have been released on KSh 1,000 cash bail each after being charged with obstructing the free flow of traffic in Nairobi.
The activists were arrested on October 26, 2026, and appeared in court on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, to face charges under Section 58(c) of the Kenya Roads Act, Chapter 408 of the Laws of Kenya.
According to court documents, four of the accused Nyanjom Otieno Collins, Shem Mboyi, Willie Maina and Collins Otieno Ochieng are accused of jointly obstructing the operation of motor vehicles along City Hall Way in Nairobi at around noon on October 26.
The prosecution alleges that the four, together with others who have not been brought before the court, unlawfully stood in the middle of the road, thereby obstructing the free flow of traffic.
In a separate charge, three other individuals — Elisha Ochieng Alam, Fredrick Odhiambo and Julius Kamau Kimani — are accused of obstructing traffic along Kimathi Street on the same day.
According to the prosecution the three allegedly assembled along a section of the road, together with others who have not been brought before the court, thereby disrupting the movement of vehicles.
They have been released on KSh 1,000 cash bail each as the case proceeds.
