Bodies of 3 miners buried alive when gold mine collapsed in Vihiga retrieved

The bodies of three miners who were buried alive when a gold mine in Chanda village, Vihiga County, collapsed have been retrieved.

The three are among four miners who were working on the mines before the accident occured on Wednesday, February 21 at around 6pm.

Confirming the incident, Vihiga County Commissioner Felix Watakila said that villagers rescued one of the miners immediately the mine collapsed.

The body of one miner was retrieved from the rubbles on Thursday, February 22 at around 3 pm, while the two remaining bodies have been found few minutes of publishing this article.

The bodies have been taken to Vihiga County Referral Hospital mortuary.
