Chelsea part ways with Liam Rosenior after disastrous five straight defeats

Chelsea FC have dismissed head coach Liam Rosenior following a damaging sequence of five straight defeats that has left their season hanging in the balance.

Rosenior’s exit comes just months after his appointment in January, when he was named permanent successor to Enzo Maresca.

His tenure at Stamford Bridge ends abruptly after a poor run that saw results and performances deteriorate sharply.

The 41-year-old, previously in charge at Derby County and Hull City and later enjoying success at Strasbourg in France, managed only 11 wins in 23 matches with Chelsea.

His brief spell has been overshadowed by inconsistency and mounting pressure from supporters and club officials.

The final straw came after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Brighton, a result that saw Chelsea slide to seventh place in the Premier League and suffer a major setback in their push for qualification to next season’s UEFA Champions League.

The recent losing streak also marked an unwanted milestone for the club, with Chelsea failing to score in five consecutive defeats for the first time in more than a century.

In an official statement, the club acknowledged Rosenior’s professionalism and conduct during his short spell but said recent performances had fallen “below the standards required,” especially with key objectives still on the line this season.

Rosenior himself had earlier described the team’s display in the Brighton loss as “unacceptable” and “indefensible,” as pressure mounted before the club moved to end his tenure.
