Deadly day on Nairobi-Nakuru Road as two accidents claim 12 lives

Tragedy struck again on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway after a devastating road crash at Kamandura junction claimed seven lives.

Several others are fighting for their lives in hospital after the Kijabe Line Sacco matatu they were traveling in lost control and rolled several times.

According to eyewitnesses, the 14-seater matatu veered off the road at high speed before overturning, flinging passengers onto the tarmac.

The impact was so severe that some victims died on the spot while others sustained critical injuries.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and ferried the injured to nearby hospitals.

The cause of the accident is believed to be the driver’s loss of control, although authorities are still investigating whether speeding or mechanical failure played a role.

This tragic crash comes barely 12 hours after another deadly accident just three kilometers away, where five people were killed when a private 14-seater vehicle collided with another car.

Families are left grieving and many are demanding action to improve safety on the busy highway.

The Nairobi-Nakuru road has become a death trap, with increasing numbers of fatal crashes involving public service vehicles.

Residents and frequent travelers are calling on traffic police to increase patrols and enforce stricter measures to control reckless driving and unroadworthy vehicles.

As investigations continue, lives are being lost in minutes, and unless change comes fast, more families will be left mourning.
