Machakos County deputy governor Francis Mwangangi, has cautioned the national government against using the gulf war as an excuse to exploit and punish Kenyans.
The deputy governor said, when those in the current regime were agitating for power led by President William Ruto, they committed to protect Kenyans from the high cost of living.
“Despite the ongoing war in the Middle East, involving Iran and the USA, fuel prices in the neighbouring countries are far much lower than that of our country, something Kenyans don’t understand,” said Mwangangi.
The deputy governor alleged that the high inflation has not only affected Kenyan citizens but also foreigners whose investments have dwindled, prompting them to exit to other countries.
“The subsidy programme on fuel that reigned in President Uhuru’s regime is the only solution to the crisis that President Ruto should revert to, for economic recovery and stability of the country,” he said.
He emphasized that the current unnecessary expenditure by President Ruto’s regime on political endeavors is the course of the collapsing economy.
“It is shocking and unbelievable to see a government that promised Kenyans stable life when elected increasing fuel prices at a rate of hundred shillings per litre within a span of two months, a record that has not been witnessed before,” said the deputy governor.
He called upon Kenyans to brace for change when time comes to rescue themselves from the jaws of the current government.
