Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has joined leaders in mourning the sudden death of Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, wife of Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale.
Gloria reportedly collapsed and died after suffering a heart attack on Saturday, August 15, 2026, prompting messages of condolence from political leaders across the country.
Sifuna, who leads the Linda Mwananchi movement that Khalwale recently joined, expressed his support for the senator and his family during the difficult period.
“Omwami Dr. B Khalwale, pole sana for your loss. May God comfort you and your family in this difficult time. Khulialala Omwami. May her soul rest in peace,” Sifuna said in a message shared on X.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka also sent a personal message to Khalwale, describing Gloria’s death as deeply painful and acknowledging her role as a wife and mother.
“My dear friend, Senator Boni Khalwale, I was deeply saddened to learn of Gloria’s sudden passing this morning,” Kalonzo wrote.
He extended his sympathies to Khalwale and his eight children, saying Gloria had been his wife, the mother of their children and his partner through many years of life.
“I can only imagine the emptiness her passing has left in your family, and I pray that God gives you all the strength and comfort to carry you through this difficult time,” Kalonzo stated.
He further offered Khalwale a message of faith, quoting Isaiah 41:10 and praying that God would uphold the family and grant Gloria eternal rest.
Bumula MP Jack Wamboka also conveyed his condolences, describing Gloria’s death as a painful loss for the Khalwale family.
“My heartfelt condolences to our senior brother Dr Boni Khalwale, CBS, following the sudden passing of his beloved wife Mama Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale,” Wamboka said.
He added that the Linda Mwananchi movement would stand with Khalwale as he and his family navigate the loss.
“As LINDA Mwananchi, we stand firmly with our senior brother and mentor, Senator Boni Khalwale, during this darkest hour,” Wamboka wrote on his Facebook page.
Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi expressed shock over Gloria’s death, saying the news had come as a profound blow to the family and those who knew her.
“It is with profound shock and sorrow that I have received the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of Mrs Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale,” Osotsi said.
He extended his condolences to Khalwale, his children and the wider family, while praying for strength and comfort during the grieving period.
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa also mourned Gloria, saying his thoughts were with the senator and his family following the sudden loss.
“I extend my sincere condolences to Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale following the sudden passing of his wife, Mama Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale,” Barasa stated.
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi added his voice to the tributes, describing Gloria’s death as a profound loss to her family, friends and those whose lives she touched.
“It is with deep sadness that I have learnt of the passing of Mrs. Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, beloved wife of Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale,” Amisi said.
On behalf of his family and the people of Saboti Constituency, Amisi conveyed his condolences to the Khalwale family and prayed for strength, peace and comfort.
“May the Almighty God give them strength, peace and comfort as they navigate this painful period of grief,” he stated, while praying for Gloria’s eternal rest.
The leaders have called for prayers and support for Khalwale and his family as they come to terms with the death of Gloria, whose passing has sparked an outpouring of condolences from across the political divide.
