Two suspected robbers have been arrested in Kisumu after a high-speed chase involving a black Toyota Prado allegedly linked to a series of robberies in the town and surrounding areas.

The suspects, identified as William Onyango Odhiambo and Felix Owino Onyango, were arrested by Kisumu Central detectives following a report by a woman who said she and her friends had been robbed of five mobile phones by people travelling in a black Prado.

Acting on intelligence, detectives tracked down the vehicle, registration number KDX 642Y.

However, the driver allegedly ignored police orders to stop and sped off, triggering a chase through the town.

Officers later shot at the vehicle’s tyres near Oile Park after the driver continued to flee.

The Prado lost control and crashed into an electric pole, damaging its front-right side.

The two suspects were arrested as they attempted to escape from the wrecked vehicle.

A search of the Prado led to the recovery of a black pistol and three mobile phones, which were taken as exhibits as investigations continued into the suspects’ possible links to other robberies.

The suspects remain in police custody as they undergo processing ahead of their arraignment in court.
