Faith Odhiambo set to join Nairobi Woman Rep race as Orengo endorses her bid

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo appears set to enter the race for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat in the 2027 General Election following a public endorsement by Siaya Governor James Orengo.

In a statement accompanying photos of the two leaders, Orengo praised Odhiambo’s track record in defending human rights and confirmed her intention to seek the Nairobi Woman Representative position.

“Faith Odhiambo is a proven defender of justice whose fearless stand for Gen Z and peaceful protestors showed the true meaning of leadership,” Orengo said.

The Siaya governor described Odhiambo’s decision to join the Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi movement as a major boost for the people’s movement and women’s leadership.

“Her decision to join the Linda Mwananchi movement is a monumental win for women’s leadership and our collective struggle for the ordinary citizen,” he stated.

Orengo further expressed confidence in her suitability for the position, saying Nairobi residents deserve leaders who will champion accountability and integrity.

“Her bid for Nairobi Woman Representative comes at the perfect time. Nairobians deserve an incorruptible voice, and Faith is exactly that,” he added.

“Welcome to the movement, Faith. Together, we are going to deliver a just and accountable capital city.”

The endorsement marks the first public indication that the former LSK president intends to vie for elective office in Nairobi.

Odhiambo recently aligned herself with the Linda Mwananchi movement spearheaded by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna. Speaking on her decision to join the outfit, she said its agenda resonates with the needs and aspirations of ordinary Kenyans.

“Linda Mwananchi resonates with me. It has the ethos of a people-centered movement,” she said.

“It carries the ethos of where the hearts of the people are and the struggles that people are going through, and that’s why for me Linda is attractive,” Odhiambo added.

Her entry is expected to inject fresh momentum into the race for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat ahead of the 2027 polls.
