Kenyan socialite and entrepreneur Huddah Monroe has once again stirred debate after making a brutally honest confession about marriage and Kenyan men.
Huddah says she would rather grow old single than marry a Kenyan man, citing what she describes as repeated experiences with disrespect, poor manners and inappropriate approaches.
The outspoken beauty entrepreneur explained that she is accustomed to environments where men approach women respectfully and even ask for permission before starting a conversation.
But according to Huddah, some Kenyan men cross the line even after initially appearing polite.
“Even if you’re nice and engage in a conversation with them, they will still end up disrespecting you. They will say something that is just disgusting,” she said.
Her message to men who spot her in public was unmistakable: “So please, msinisalime. Mkiniona mahali, wache ikae.”
In other words, don’t greet her-just leave her alone.
Huddah Monroe Take on Dating Black Men
Huddah didn’t stop at Kenyan men. She also opened up about her broader experiences dating Black men, describing the experience as “too much hard work” and likening it to navigating a maze.
She suggested that some of the behaviour she encounters stems from how African boys are raised, calling on mothers raising sons to do better for the next generation.
The entrepreneur also addressed another dating frustration: men who are attracted to independent women but later try to change them.
Her argument? If you want a traditional housewife, marry one-don’t date an independent woman and expect to turn her into someone else.
Huddah Isn’t Chasing Marriage
Huddah has previously been outspoken about her views on marriage, arguing that women should not remain in unhappy relationships simply because society expects them to.
For her, marriage is not a box to tickand she appears perfectly comfortable choosing singlehood over settling.
Her latest comments have already reignited the age-old debate: Are Kenyan men really that bad at approaching women, or is Huddah simply setting a very high bar?
