“I am not being used by anybody”- Jalang’o denies political plot against Sifuna

Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has dismissed allegations that he is being influenced by external political actors to undermine Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during an interview with political analyst Herman Manyora on his YouTube channel on Friday, June 19, 2026, the legislator said his political decisions are driven by personal ambition and a long-term leadership vision.

“Sifuna is actually a very good friend of mine. It is only that we have not seen each other for a very long time, and there is no way I was going to run for Senate if he was running. He is not running for the Senate in 2027,” Jalang’o said.

He rejected suggestions that he is being used to counter Sifuna’s growing influence in Nairobi politics, terming the claims misleading and politically motivated.

“I am part of the people who consume very raw intelligence. I saw that come, and I have always had this big vision,” he said. “I am not being used by anybody.”

Jalang’o further revealed that his political aspirations extend beyond his current parliamentary seat, stating that he is interested in gaining experience that could prepare him for higher office.

“I would go for my second term in Lang’ata constituency, but I want to have this perspective of how does running a county look like. How does a county campaign look like?” he posed.

He added that his long-term goal is to contest for Nairobi’s governorship, insisting that his current moves are part of a broader political roadmap.

“I have a vision that one day I will become a governor of this city. So I am on my way, I am not being used by anybody,” he said.

Separately, Jalang’o also expressed confidence in President William Ruto’s leadership, stating that he does not regret his political alignment.

“I don’t ever regret backing the President, I don’t in any way. There is so much to learn from him,” he said, adding, “The next President is William Samoei Ruto, let’s start planning for 2032 for anybody who would want to run.”
