Gachagua: Why I returned quietly from U.S, boarded a Probox to Wamunyoro

DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that he returned to the country silently after his one-month trip to the United States (U.S) because he feared for his safety.

Speaking in a vernacular television station, Gachagua said he secretly returned to the country on October 20, 2026, boarded a Toyota Probox car at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and travelled directly to his rural home in Wamunyoro Village, Nyeri County.

“I returned silently. I made sure there were no photos. I got into a Probox car and headed directly to Wamunyoro,” said Gachagua. “I did not sleep here [Karen home]. I arrived around 9 pm; by 12 a.m., I was at my home [Wamunyoro].”

According to the former deputy president, he did that deliberately fearing for his security, insisting that publicising his homecoming would expose him to potential attacks.

Gachagua kept his travel plans secret. He neither informed his drivers nor his security personnel, to avoid the information leaking.

“I informed no one; not even my drivers and security guards. I told no one, as people would have publicised it, yet they [my detractors] are not good people. They have been hatching evil plans against me.”

He added: “I told myself, you can’t repeat the same mistake. As my detractors are not happy with my decision to stand with our people and the country and speak the truth, I saw it wise to return silently.”
