Liverpool rallied from a goal down to beat Luton Town and restore their four-point lead at the summit of the Premier League standings.
The victory was crucial, as Manchester City had closed the gap to just one point with their win against Brentford the previous evening.
The tension for Jurgen Klopp’s squad, plagued by injuries, escalated when they found themselves trailing by one goal at halftime, thanks to a surprising early goal from Luton’s Chiedozie Ogbene, who capitalized on a mishap by Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher.
Luis Diaz relentlessly pursued an equalizing goal, but Liverpool’s fortunes didn’t change until the second half. Virgil van Dijk initiated the comeback with a strong header from an Alexis Mac Allister corner.
Cody Gakpo followed by putting Liverpool ahead with a quick second goal, also assisted by Mac Allister. Diaz, earlier missing chances, clinched the victory with smart play and a goal from close range.

By the game’s end, Liverpool had firmly taken control, and Harvey Elliott’s late goal, a superb shot into the top corner, put the finishing touch on the win.
“I wouldn’t say we were calmer, it was just a firework – my god! Wonderful goals, fantastic goals and a fantastic night. How the stadium and the team together changed that game was just exceptional,” Klopp told Sky Sport after the game.
