Nairobi, Kenya, 5 June 2026 — Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) has received a KSh3 million sponsorship from KCB in support of the second edition of Run 4 Seniors, scheduled for 18 July 2026 at Karura Forest, Nairobi.
The annual charity run brings together corporates, families, fitness enthusiasts and well-wishers to raise awareness and mobilise resources for the welfare, healthcare and dignity of vulnerable senior citizens.
Speaking during the sponsorship handover ceremony, Mr. Moses Mwangi, Chairman of Run 4 Seniors, said KCB’s support reflects the growing role of the private sector in protecting and uplifting vulnerable older persons.
“This sponsorship is a strong statement that our senior citizens matter. Through Run 4 Seniors, we are not only promoting healthy living and community engagement, but also rallying society to support the dignity, care and wellbeing of older persons,” said Mr. Mwangi.
MIC President Mr. Ahmed Jibril said proceeds from the run will strengthen programmes that support elderly persons through nutrition, healthcare access, psychosocial support and community outreach.
“As we age, health challenges become inevitable. For seniors who struggle to afford basic necessities such as food, accessing healthcare can become an overwhelming hurdle. Our Seniors Healthcare Program seeks to bridge this gap by providing the comprehensive and multidisciplinary care they need,” said Mr. Jibril.
Through its Seniors Feeding Program, MIC has provided food support to more than 2,000 seniors over the years, positively impacting more than 5,000 household members under their care.
On her part, KCB Foundation Director, Mendi Njonjo said, “At KCB, we believe that a caring society is measured by how it treats its most vulnerable members. Our sponsorship of the second edition of the Run 4 Seniors initiative reflects our commitment to supporting the wellbeing, dignity, and inclusion of senior citizens in our communities. Through this partnership, we are rallying Kenyans to champion a cause that celebrates and uplifts those who have played a significant role in building our nation. We are proud to stand alongside like-minded partners in ensuring that our seniors live healthier, more fulfilling lives.”
The second edition of the run is expected to attract hundreds of participants from across the country, building on the success of the inaugural event, which drew significant public support and participation.
This year’s event will feature 5 km, 10 km and 15 km race categories, promoting wellness while advancing awareness around healthy ageing and social inclusion for senior citizens.
Mama Ibado Charity and KCB called on corporates, institutions and members of the public to register and participate in the run as part of collective efforts to uplift, celebrate and support senior citizens.
