A court in Kibera has issued a warrant of arrest against Mr. Dan Onsomu Mokua, the Executive Director of the National Economic Development Party of Kenya (NEDPK), after he allegedly failed to appear before the court for a scheduled hearing.
The warrant, issued on June 24, 2026, by the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Kibera in Criminal Case No. E1889 of 2024, directs officers from Lang’ata Police Station to apprehend Mr. Mokua and produce him before the court.
According to the court order, the warrant was issued after the accused allegedly failed to attend court as required.
“Therefore, you are hereby commanded forthwith to apprehend the said accused person and to bring him before this court,” the warrant states.
The court’s decision authorizes police officers to arrest Mr. Mokua and present him before the court to answer to the charges facing him and allow the case to proceed in accordance with the law.
Reports further indicate that Mr. Mokua had previously been the subject of another warrant of arrest issued by the Makadara Chief Magistrate’s Court on July 25, 2023, against Mr. Daniel Onsomu Mokua following his alleged failure to attend court proceedings in Criminal Case No. 1023 of 2022.
Warrants of arrest are typically issued when an accused person fails to honour a court summons or attend a scheduled hearing without providing a satisfactory explanation.
The latest development means that law enforcement officers are now mandated to arrest Mr. Mokua and present him before the court for further directions in the case.
