Kenyan appointed  president of examinations body in Africa

Kenya Dr. David Njengere was on Friday, August 25, appointed as president of the Association for Educational Assessment in Africa.

Dr Njengere takes over from Patrick Areghan, a Nigerian who doubles as the chief executive of the West African Examinations Council.

He will serve the outfit for one year.  The outfit brings together examination and assessment councils from across Africa.

Njengere was crowned during the closing of the 39th annual Association for Educational Assessment in Africa conference on Friday.

He takes over the leadership of the association, after serving as its vice president for one year.

Previously, Njengere also served as the advisor to Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education.

In this role, he provided professional advice to the Education CS on Curriculum Reforms, curriculum development, implementation, and assessment.

He also advised the Education CS on policies and strategies for effective curriculum reform implementation in the country.

Other functions included offering technical support to Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, and Kenya National Examinations Council.

He also played a key role in policy formulation for the Teachers Service Commission and other agencies involved in the curriculum reforms.

The KNEC CEO, started his career as a teacher of English, for nine years between 1990 and 1999 before he joined the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.
