Manhunt underway for Easy Coach bus driver after fatal Kisumu accident

Police in Nyanza have launched a search for the driver of an Easy Coach bus involved in a tragic accident near Kisumu.

The incident, which occurred along the Kakamega-Kisumu highway, resulted in the death of a student from Chavakali Boys High School who was traveling to Nairobi for the April holidays.

The accident happened around 10 p.m. at the Coptic Roundabout near Mamboleo. According to reports, the bus lost control while navigating the roundabout, crashing into the guardrails and tipping over.

Sadly, one student lost their life, and several others sustained injuries, with two in critical condition.

Easy Coach, the bus company, expressed deep regret over the incident, confirming that the bus was carrying students from Chavakali High School. They reported that 22 students were discharged from hospitals, while three remained admitted for further treatment.

Following the accident, the driver reportedly fled the scene, prompting a manhunt by the authorities for further investigation. The company assured cooperation with law enforcement to determine the cause of the accident and extended condolences to the bereaved family.

The public criticized Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen for what they perceived as inadequate measures to prevent such tragedies following the incident

The search for the driver continues as authorities work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate accident.
