The Ministry of Health has rolled out a WhatsApp-based chatbot known as JALI to provide Kenyans with accurate and verified information on Ebola virus disease, in a move aimed at strengthening public awareness and countering misinformation.
According to a statement shared on the Ministry of Health X account by Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni on Saturday, June 6, 2026, the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance access to reliable health communication through platforms widely used by citizens.
“Worried About Ebola? JALI Has the Answers!” the Ministry announced in its awareness campaign, encouraging the public to rely on the chatbot for trusted guidance.
The Ministry noted that JALI is designed to offer real-time health information, prevention tips, and official updates on Ebola, helping citizens make informed decisions and reduce the spread of false information.
“Stay safe and informed with trusted health guidance from the Ministry of Health,” the statement read, highlighting the importance of verified communication in managing public health risks.
To access the service, users are required to save the number 0700719719 as JALI Chatbot on their phones, open WhatsApp, and search for the contact.
Users then begin by typing “Hello,” accept the terms, and proceed to select their gender and age before requesting information by typing “Ebola.”
The Ministry explained that the chatbot also provides continuous engagement, allowing users to access prevention advice and additional health resources.
Officials emphasized that the platform is intended to complement existing public health communication channels while ensuring that citizens receive timely and accurate information.
The Ministry further urged Kenyans to depend only on official platforms for health updates, stressing that misinformation poses a serious risk during disease outbreaks.
The introduction of JALI comes as part of broader digital health innovations aimed at improving response mechanisms and enhancing public education on infectious diseases across the country.
