MP Amisi over the moon as he graduates with masters degree

Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi is over the moon after graduating with a Master of Arts in International Relations from the United States International University (USIU).

Taking to his Facebook page on Saturday, September 27, MP Amisi thanked the Almighty God for achieving such a fete, especially bearing in mind that he came from a poor background.

“25 years ago, an orphaned boy walked through the gates of Starehe Boys’ Centre and School armed with only a padlock. Having emerged as the top student in the Western Region in the 2000 KCPE exams, and with no hope of paying high school fees, Starehe became his last refuge,” the legislator wrote.

He added: “Today, that same boy graduates as the top student in the Master of Arts in International Relations program at #USIU University, amidst a convoluted political environment and the highly demanding pressures of public service.”

Amisi had an advise to children who come from poor background like his: “We don’t choose where, when, or to whom we are born — but we certainly have the power to choose our own destiny.”

The lawmaker attended Sabatia Primary School between from 1992 to 2000, before joining Starehe Boys Centre in 2001. He sat for his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Examination in the same institution in 2004.

He later joined the University of Nairobi in 2006 to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree, completing the four-year course in 2010.
