On Your Mark, Get Set, Win Big: Great Cash Prizes for World AIDS Day 2024 Half-Marathon Winners!

HEALTH

The biggest Half Marathon this year, the World AIDS Day Half Marathon 2024, is coming up on 1st December 2024, at Nyayo Stadium. It is organized by National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC), aimed at accelerating efforts to end AIDS by 2030 and end new HIV Infections.

NSDCC have had numerous sessions with various organisations, groups and counties nationwide, sensitizing masses in taking up their role in the noble fight against HIV/AIDS. With 9 out of 10 people who inject drugs in Kenya being men, there is an outcry that men be at the core of this conversation, because this places them at a higher risk of contracting HIV. These forums focused on HIV prevention, Gender-based Violence Awareness, promoting prevention of the growing Triple Threat of pregnancies/teenage pregnancies, drug abuse prevention and sensitization, and prioritizing men’s health. Key activities included education on safe sexual practices like use of condoms, medical screenings, and discussions on socio-cultural barriers. The upcoming Half Marathon will be a climax to World AIDS Day 2024 Celebrations.
