Youth leaders in Siaya County have issued a stern warning to political aspirants ahead of the 2027 General Election, demanding a shift from personality driven insults to issue-based politics.

Addressing journalists in Siaya Town, the youth representatives expressed deep concern over the deterioration of political discourse, criticizing candidates who focus on personal backgrounds and marital history rather than development agendas.

Nick Ongoro, a local youth leader, emphasized that the electorate is tired of political theatrics and demands accountable leadership with measurable results.

“Our people are tired of political theater when they need solution,” Ongoro said, adding that leaders must address pressing challenges such as unemployment, healthcare, and economic growth.

Echoing these sentiments, Joash Ondira and Easther Ngonga representing the 041 Vijana Mashinani initiative, slammed the persistence of ethnic, regional, and divisive politics.

They challenged aspirants to present clear blueprints on job creation, improved road networks, and enhanced healthcare facilities equipped with modern medicine and adequate personnel.

Auscah Wambiya, the Siaya County youth coordinator, also voiced frustration over candidates who use political platforms to attack opponents’ lineage instead of outlining policies to uplift residents.

The youth groups maintained that the county’s political space must no longer serve as a marketplace for personal attacks, warning that voters will closely scrutinize the track records and visions of everyone seeking public office.
