Two people in custody as DCI probes fatal shooting of Dr. Victoria Mutiso in Upper Hill

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed that two people of interest are in custody as homicide detectives intensify investigations into the fatal shooting of Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso, who was killed in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area on July 29, 2026.

In an update to the public, the DCI said specialised investigative and forensic teams have been pursuing multiple leads through witness interviews, forensic analysis, and targeted operations since taking over the case.

Searches have been executed at premises linked to persons of interest, leading to the recovery of exhibits now undergoing detailed forensic analysis.

The identities of the two individuals in custody are being withheld at this stage to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

The DCI said additional investigative actions remain underway as detectives continue analysing recovered exhibits and pursuing other critical leads.

The Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a thorough, impartial, and expeditious investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding Dr. Mutiso’s death and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.

The DCI also conveyed its sincere condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the late Dr. Mutiso, and thanked members of the public for their continued cooperation and support.
