ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga on Friday, October 9 insisted that the party will conduct free, fair and transparent nominations ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking when he led the ODM fraternity at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega, to mark one year since the passing of Raila Odinga, Wanga said there will be no special treatment of aspirants who wish to fly the party ticket.
According to Wanga, who is also the Homa Bay County Governor, the party will pick the popular candidates who will have been selected by the electorate in the scheduled primaries to fly its flag.
“ODM will conduct free, fair and transparent nominations,” Wanga reiterated to a charged party supporters. “Kila mtu ambaye yuko na wananchi atapata nafasi ya kupeperusha bendera ya ODM.”
Wanga also launched a scathing attack against retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of plotting to destabilise President William Ruto’s government out of sheer malice and disdain.
“President Uhuru has played with us a lot as ODM. When we used to walk with him, he said he would not give us anything because he will hand over presidency to baba. He was a sitting president but he failed to deliver the presidency to us. Now he is out of power, retired but sponsoring some people lying to them that he will make them president. If he couldn’t make baba President, then how will he make Sifuna, Matiangi and Kalonzo president. There is no day he will be able to compete and defeat President Ruto.”
Among the leaders in attendance were Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and his deputy Ayub Savula,Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe, Butere MP Tindi Mwale, MCAs, alongside members of the ODM family.
