Grief and shock have engulfed Laria village in Marmanet Ward, Laikipia West Constituency, after a 65-year-old woman, Lucy Mbogo, and her 40-year-old son John Mbogo, were found brutally murdered inside their home.
The two bodies were discovered with deep cuts on their necks in what residents have described as a chilling and mysterious double murder.
The incident has left many unanswered questions, especially after it emerged that Lucy Mbogo was allegedly forced by the killers to move from her house to her son’s house before being killed and her body moved and placed on her son’s bed.
Meanwhile, the body of John Mbogo was found lying in the living room.

“We found the mother lying on her son’s bed and the son’s body in the living room. The bodies had deep cuts on their necks. It was a horrifying scene that has left our village in shock,” said Simon Kanyutu, the area MCA
Neighbours say the family was peaceful and had never been involved in any disputes or incidents that could have hinted at such a tragic ending, making the killings even more baffling.
“We are in shock. This was a peaceful family with no known disputes. We never imagined that a mother and her son would be killed so brutally in our village,” said Jeremiah Ndung’u, resident from the area.
The bodies have since been moved to the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital mortuary as police launch investigations to establish the motive behind the killings and track down those responsible.
