Alliance Boys students sent home after fire incident

The Alliance High School management has temporarily sent its students home following a fire incident involving a small section of mattresses in one of its older dormitories.

In a statement to parents on Thursday, 4th June, 2026, school Principal David Chomba said no student was harmed in the incident and that normal learning activities had continued uninterrupted.

However, the school has invited parents and guardians to a meeting to be updated on the matter and discuss plans for ensuring student welfare and safety going forward.

The Principal said that the students will be released to spend the weekend at home with their families after the parents meeting.

“This measure is intended solely to provide an opportunity for students to be with their families as the school undertakes further internal reviews and preparations to ensure continued normalcy and a conducive learning environment,” Chomba said.

He reaffirmed that all students remain safe and that the temporary send-home was a precautionary step to maintain confidence within the school community.

Alliance joins a growing list of schools that have taken similar action in recent days.

Students from Nakuru Girls High School and Njoro Girls High School have also been sent home under unclear circumstances, with the incidents forming part of a broader pattern of unrest in secondary schools across the country.

The developments come less than two weeks after the devastating fire at Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil, Nakuru County, which claimed the lives of 16 students on May 28, 2026.

Police said 74 students were hospitalised following the blaze, and nine girls suspected of starting the fire were ordered by a court in Naivasha to be detained at the Nakuru Children’s Remand Home for 21 days as investigations continue.
