Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Embakasi have recovered a stolen firearm and ammunition following a swift intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of a suspect in Nairobi’s Central Business District.
According to the DCI, the operation was conducted under the command of the SCCIO Embakasi after a licensed firearm holder reported the theft of a pistol.
Acting on intelligence leads supported by forensic analysis, detectives tracked down the prime suspect, a 42-year-old man identified as John Bosco Munyao.
“The operation culminated in the arrest of the prime suspect within Nairobi’s Central Business District,” the DCI stated.
Following his arrest, the suspect reportedly led investigators to his residence in Kangemi, where a search was conducted.
Officers recovered a stolen Glock pistol that had been concealed inside a suitcase among clothes. In addition, detectives seized seventeen rounds of ammunition and two magazines believed to belong to the same firearm.
The recovered exhibits were secured as evidence, pending further forensic examination and use in ongoing investigations.
The DCI confirmed that the suspect is currently in lawful custody and is expected to be arraigned in court as detectives finalize investigations into the circumstances surrounding the theft and possible involvement of other individuals.
Authorities praised the coordinated effort between intelligence units and field officers, noting that the swift recovery of the firearm helped prevent its possible misuse in criminal activities within the city.
Investigations are ongoing as law enforcement seeks to establish whether the suspect is linked to other firearm-related incidents reported in Nairobi and its environs.
