Former LSK president Faith Odhiambo backs Linda Mwananchi, says Sifuna has the aura to inspire young voters

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo has defended her decision to associate with the Linda Mwananchi movement, saying its ideals resonate with the struggles and aspirations of ordinary Kenyans.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Odhiambo said the movement’s people-centered approach is what attracted her to it.

“Linda Mwananchi carries the ethos of a people-centered movement. It carries the ethos of where the hearts of the people are and the struggles that people are going through, and that’s why for me Linda is attractive,” she said.

Odhiambo maintained that her political and social beliefs have remained unchanged since her tenure at the Law Society of Kenya.

“I have remained consistent in my values and principles since my time at the LSK and in the causes I have fought for. Linda Mwananchi embodies and aligns with those principles,” she stated.

The former LSK president also expressed confidence in Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s ability to appeal to younger voters, describing him as a leader many young people can relate to.

“Sifuna carries the aura that would encourage young people to go out there and vote. Young people want to see someone who is a reflection of them, has the ability to listen and is down to earth,” she said.

Odhiambo further weighed in on Sifuna’s removal from the Senate Energy Committee, warning against punishing leaders for expressing dissenting views.

“Criticism should not be taken negatively. Otherwise, we risk returning to the days of Moi when anyone who raised questions faced immediate and swift punishment,” she remarked.

On ODM leader Raila Odinga, Odhiambo said she supports policies and ideals rather than personalities.

“Baba has always stood on the side of the people. It’s not a matter of siding with any group; I side with the policies, ideals and what Raila stood for,” she said.
