Over 4,900 high school students supported by the Wings to Fly and Elimu Scholarship programs have wrapped up an intensive leadership and mentorship summit organized by the Equity Group Foundation (EGF).

Spread across venues in Dadaab, Kakuma, and Nairobi, the five-day convention brought together 1,996 Form 3 and Form 4 Wings to Fly scholars alongside 2,953 Form 3 refugee learners.

Centered on the theme “Lead, Solve, Sustain: Turning Challenges into Solutions,” the gathering aimed to equip young minds with character, resilience, and practical problem-solving skills as they prepare for higher education and future careers.

Speaking to the scholars, Equity Group Foundation Executive Chairman and Equity Group Holdings CEO James Mwangi challenged the youths to harness emerging technology to address real-world problems in their communities rather than remaining passive consumers.

He reminded them that while financial aid opens doors, their personal choices, work ethic, and skill set will ultimately define their impact.

“Science and technology are reshaping the world. We encourage our scholars to embrace these opportunities, build relevant skills, and use technology to create solutions rather than simply consume them. Your choices determine your ultimate impact,” said James Mwangi.

At Alliance Girls High School, Cape Media CEO Mwenda Njoka shared a similar message, urging the learners to view their secondary school scholarships as a life-changing stepping stone.

He emphasized that personal discipline, strong focus, and digital literacy are vital tools for turning academic support into long-term professional success.
