How woman lured children with juice to steal 9-month-old baby in Nakuru

A family living in Rhonda Estate, Nakuru West, is searching for their 9-month-old baby, who was stolen by an unidentified woman on Tuesday October 29, 2024 in the evening.

Reports indicate that the woman lured the four children with juice and French fries before taking the baby.

CCTV footage from a supermarket within the estate shows the suspected woman talking to four children who were with baby Rehema Kerubo before she disappeared.

Baby Rehema’s mother, Maureen Gesare is in anguish as it’s been four days since her only child was stolen by an unidentified woman.

“I’ve lost my child. The children were deceived with juice and fries worth a hundred shillings. I don’t know this woman, and no one else seems to know her. I’m pleading with her to return my child,” said Rehema’s Mother.

Rehema’s aunt Faith Kemunto added, “The children, who are used to spending time with her, went to eat with her. When they left, they encountered this stranger who called them over, asked for their names, and inquired whether the baby was a girl or a boy. She then asked them to escort her as she was new to Rhonda.”

CCTV footage retrieved from a nearby supermarket shows the suspected woman, who was wearing a blue dress, speaking with the four children, one of whom carried Baby Rehema on her back.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman bought juice for the four children and then sent the older one to buy chips before she disappeared with the baby.

“They drank the juice, and then she sent the older kids to buy chips. She stayed behind with the younger ones, one carrying Baby Rehema. She instructed them to tell the others to bring not only chips but also chicken. When they returned, she had already disappeared,” Rehema’s aunt stated.

The family reported the incident to the Rhonda Police Post as they continued to search for the baby.

Meanwhile, Nakuru West DCIO Charles Kamau urged the family and residents to remain calm, adding that investigations have been launched to ensure the child is found.

“I haven’t seen the child up to this moment. I raised her, and I’m heartbroken. When she sees me, she calls me ‘Mama.’ Please help me find my granddaughter,” said Rehema’s grandmother Lilian Moraa.
