The National Police Service (NPS) has announced a reshuffle affecting several senior officers, with Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja approving new deployments aimed at strengthening leadership and operational efficiency within key security units.
Among the changes, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Johana Kiplangat Tonui has been appointed Commandant of the General Service Unit (GSU), moving from his previous role in the Kenya Police Service Directorate of Operations.
Assistant Inspector General Fredrick Egesa Nyongesa has also been redeployed from the GSU to serve as the unit’s Deputy Commandant.
In another key appointment, Assistant Inspector General Paul Maingo Mumo has been transferred from the Directorate of Quality Assurance to head the Internal Affairs Unit, which is tasked with investigating misconduct and promoting accountability within the police service.
According to the National Police Service, the redeployments are intended to enhance effectiveness and strengthen operations across critical departments.
The changes take effect immediately.
