Kalenjin leaders have sharply criticized former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi after hinting at plans to join the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking in Kelelwa, Mogotio Constituency, the leaders accused Gideon Moi of seeking to divide the Kalenjin community ahead of the 2027 polls, warning that he would be on his own if he chose to join the opposition.
Eldama Ravine MP Musa Sirma said the community would reject Gideon Moi’s political move, alleging that former President Uhuru Kenyatta was behind Gideon Moi’s plans.
Sirma urged Moi to support President William Ruto, arguing that the community had stood behind his father, the late President Daniel arap Moi, for 24 years.
Nominated MP Bishop Jackson Kosgei called on the former senator to respect President Ruto, while Bomet County Assembly Speaker Cosmas Korir urged Moi to rally behind the Head of State to unite the community ahead of the 2027 elections.
Last Friday, Gideon Moi met with Kalenjin elders at his Kabarak home, where he discussed his political future as the 2027 General Election draws closer.
