KANU communications officer Cornelius Ronoh found after ‘mysterious abduction’

KANU on Tuesday, October 9 afternoon confirmed that Cornelius K. Ronoh, the party’s Digital Communications Officer, had been released after he was reportedly abducted on October 7, in Fedha area, Embakasi, Nairobi.

According to an official statement from KANU, Ronoh was found along Kiambu Road and is currently undergoing medical evaluation after being held incommunicado for nearly 24 hours.

“We can confirm that Cornelius.K. Ronoh has been freed after being held incommunicado since last evening. He was dumped around Kiambu Road and is currently undergoing medical checkup” the party said on X.

Ronoh was allegedly abducted in what the party described as a disturbing and targeted act. His whereabouts remained unknown until his release, sparking fears both within the party and across the public especially given his critical role in managing the party’s communications.

The party has engaged legal representatives to press for further investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ronoh’s abduction. Although Ronoh is now free, KANU continues to call for answers on the motivations behind his kidnapping and the identities of those responsible.

“The abduction of our colleague is not just a matter of concern for KANU but for anyone who believes in justice and transparency. We need answers, and we won’t rest until those responsible are brought to book,” said Manasse Nyainda, KANU’s Director of Communications.

KANU further called for Ronoh’s legal presentation in court if any valid charges exist, rather than resorting to such unlawful tactics.

“We unequivocally call on the authorities to produce Mr. Ronoh in any court of competent jurisdiction to stand trial if he is deemed to have committed any offense under the law. We call on the authorities to cease and desist from these brazen kipnapping.”
