The Linda Mwananchi Movement has announced its next major political engagement in Western Kenya, with its leaders set to meet residents of Kakamega County on Saturday, August 8, 2026 as the outfit continues to build support ahead of the 2027 general election.
The announcement was made by Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi through his Facebook page on Tuesday, August 4, where he invited residents to attend the public forum.
“Kakamega tumerudi tena tukutane sato 8/8/2026,” Osotsi wrote.
According to a promotional poster shared by the movement, the rally will bring together several prominent opposition leaders, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who is billed as the chief host. Also expected to attend are Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Senator Godfrey Osotsi.
The gathering forms part of the movement’s ongoing grassroots engagement programme, which seeks to interact directly with wananchi on governance, accountability and national development. Organisers say the forums are designed to provide an opportunity for citizens to voice their concerns while leaders outline their vision for the country.
The movement has been holding similar public meetings across different regions as it seeks to strengthen its national presence before the next general election.
The upcoming Kakamega rally follows a successful tour of Bungoma County, where the movement drew a large crowd of supporters during a public meeting that underscored its growing influence in the Western Kenya region.
Campaign materials for the Kakamega event carry the slogan “People Powered. People First.” and invite residents to “listen, engage and build together for a better Kenya.”
Besides promoting public participation, the movement is also appealing for financial support from its supporters through an official pay bill number to facilitate its activities across the country.
With political realignments beginning to take shape ahead of the 2027 polls, the Kakamega meeting is expected to offer another platform for the opposition leaders to engage residents and advance the Linda Mwananchi Movement’s agenda as it expands its nationwide mobilisation drive.
