A train carrying North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has entered Russia, this is according to multiple reports, including Russian state news agency Ria Novosti.

The reports say the armoured train with dark greed carriages crossed into the Primorsky region from North Korea.

In his first trip abroad in four years, Kim will meet Putin later this week, with experts saying Moscow would likely seek artillery shells and antitank missiles from North Korea.

In return, North Korea is said to be in need of advanced satellite and nuclear-powered submarine technology from Russia.

“Obviously, as neighbours, our countries also cooperate in sensitive areas that should not be the subject of public disclosure and announcements. This is perfectly normal for neighbouring states,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov says.

Washington warning

All these comes amid warning from the U.S. Washington has since said North Korea would “pay a price” if it supplies Moscow with weapons for the Ukraine conflict.

A bullish Peskov, however, played down the warning.

“In building our relations with our neighbours, including North Korea, the important thing for us is the interests of our two countries, not Washington’s warnings.”
