Nyamira to employ over 180 medics, strengthen health sector

Nyamira County will employ 181 medical staff soon alongside upgrading some health facilities, in a move aimed at strengthening the sector.

Of all these, 100 will be nurses while the rest will be Clinical Officers and staff for other sections. The advertisement for the jobs will be published in about two weeks.

Speaking at Nyagacho dispensary in Borabu Subcounty, Governor Amos Nyaribo said his Administration is making strides in strengthening the healthcare system as he committed in his manifesto.

“Am happy that as I promised during my 2022 campaign development agenda, I have improved health services to our people. After introducing Drug Revolving Fund, we have ended shortage of medicine,” he said.

Governor Nyaribo said he has employed medical professionals in various health departments at Nyamira Referral hospital and bought equipment, a move he noted had minimized referrals to other hospital outside the County.

He cited orthopedic as one of the departments that was introduced at the Referral hospital that had ended referrals of patients with limb fractures seeking medical treatment outside the County.

“We are going to employ more nurses and lab specialists to staff our rural health facilities,” he said.

After he opened Nyagacho dispensary, he said a lab technician and two extra nurses will be posted to the facility, in preparation for elevation to a level 3 facility.
