President William Ruto on Saturday August 8, 2026 congratulated his daughter Charlene Ruto following her engagement with her long time lover Isaya.
In a social media post, the president noted that he and the First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto celebrated Charlene’s engagement to her lover Isaya.
“Today, Mama Rachel and I celebrate with grateful hearts as our daughter Charlene begins a beautiful new chapter with her fiancé, Isaya.
“May God bless your union, deepen your friendship and fill the home you build together with love, joy and enduring peace. Congratulations to you both on your engagement,” President Ruto posted on X.
The President added that, as a parent, he is proud of his daughter and will always stand by her side.
“As your parents, we are proud of you, we rejoice with you, and we will always stand beside you,” he noted.
Other leaders including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Winnie Odinga and Ngina Kenyatta (retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s daughter) congratulated Charlene after a colourful event that was held at President Ruto’s home in Kilgoris.
“Congratulations my dearest friend on your Koito ak Chaik traditional farewell ceremony. Welcome to the club ma’am,” posted Ngina Kenyatta.
At the same time, East African Legislative Assembly Member of Parliament Winnie Odinga hilariously congratulated Charlene Ruto on her engagement to Isaya Yunge.
Winnie shared photos from the Koito ceremony, including one of Charlene and another showing her shaking hands with President William Ruto.
Her remarks were made in jest as she celebrated Charlene’s special day. She said she had attended the ceremony to support Charlene, whom she referred to as her sister, while also praising her appearance as a bride.
“All maneno aside, today I showed up for my sister Charlene,” Winnie Odinga said.
She also described Charlene as a bride who was visibly happy during the ceremony. Winnie went on to send her blessings to the newly engaged couple as they began this new chapter together.
“A Blushing bride!” Winnie Odinga said, “Blessings to Char and Isayah.”
