Three dead, three injured as car hits six pedestrians in Mariakani

Three people have been killed while three others seriously injured after a vehicle ran over them in Mariakani, Kilifi County, on Wednesday, December 25.

Reports indicate that Stephen Fakur Rando was driving a Toyota Porte car from Kaloleni to Mariakani at around 5 am but upon reaching near Dam View Hotel, he hit six pedestrians who were walking along the Mariakani-Kaloleni Road.

Three of the pedestrians (a woman and two men) died on the spot while two others were injured.

The injured — including the driver of the ill-fated car — were rushed to Mariakani District Hospital for emergency treatment while the body of the deceased were taken to Coast General Hospital mortuary.

“The weather condition was chilly and the road is tarmacked and well-marked,” the Mariakani Traffic Base say.
