A grade five learner from Kathungu Primary School was hacked to death on Monday April 28, 2026 in Nguni, Mwingi Central, by individuals believed to be camel herders.
The incident occurred while the boy and another person were looking after cattle; one managed to escape unhurt.
The attack comes just three days after a similar incident in which seven people, including a woman, were shot dead by suspected bandits in the Kwa Kamari area of Tseikuru, Mwingi North.
Mwingi East OCPD, Bonface Kavoo, confirmed the incident.
Following the killing, angry residents barricaded sections of the busy Mwingi–Garissa highway, demanding justice.
