5 family members struck by lightning in Nakuru

Residents of  Karandit village in Kuresoi South, Nakuru County were shocked after five family members were struck by lightning on Monday May 6, 2024. 

Police reported that the five teenagers who are siblings were admitted to hospital after lightning struck a house they were sheltering in.

According to the victims’ mother, Emily Cheruiot, she had asked one of the teens to put down his phone, warning him of the possible dangers.

She told police that the children fell on the floor after lightning struck, as they sustained injuries during the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, the family was gathered in their house when lightning struck, hitting all five family members at once. 

The victims were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for medical attention.

The medical team is closely monitoring their progress and providing the necessary care.

This comes amid ongoing heavy rains in different parts of the country  that led to loss of lives, and destruction of property.
