Drug trafficker found with three kilograms of cannabis arrested at Kanyonyoo

A multi agency security team intercepted a public service vehicle travelling from Nairobi to Kutiu in Kanyonyoo along the Thika–Garissa Highway.

Upon verification checks and a thorough search of passengers and their luggage, a black backpack belonging to one of the passengers was discovered, containing approximately three kilograms of Cannabis sativa.

The substance had been carefully wrapped in green polythene material and further sealed with adhesive tape, evidently in an attempt to evade detection.

In addition to the narcotic substance, officers recovered eight packets of rolling papers, each containing one hundred sheets, as well as a digital weighing scale, suggesting intent for repackaging and distribution.

Preliminary interrogation of the suspect revealed that he had sourced the cannabis from Bungoma County and was transporting it to Kitui Town for commercial purposes.

The suspect was promptly arrested and escorted to Kanyonyoo Police Station. All exhibits were secured as evidence, pending the suspect’s arraignment in court.
