Duale praises healthcare workers, reaffirms government’s UHC agenda on Labour Day

Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale has praised Kenya’s healthcare workers for their unwavering dedication, describing their service as central to building a healthier and more productive nation.

In a statement shared on his X account on 1st May 2026, Duale paid tribute to the country’s medical workforce, acknowledging the vital role they play in safeguarding the well-being of millions of Kenyans through their daily service in hospitals, clinics, and communities across the country.

“We pay tribute to the dedication of our healthcare workforce and all those whose daily efforts safeguard the well-being of our nation,”Duale said.

“Their service remains vital to a healthier and more productive society.”

He noted that Labour Day offers an important opportunity to recognize workers in every sector, while giving special mention to healthcare professionals whose commitment continues to strengthen the country’s health system despite ongoing challenges in the sector.

The Health CS also used the occasion to reaffirm the government’s commitment to advancing the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda, which remains one of the country’s flagship social development programmes aimed at expanding access to healthcare services for all Kenyans.

“We renew our commitment to pursue the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda to guarantee all Kenyans’ access to quality and affordable health services,”he stated.

Duale emphasized that achieving universal access to healthcare is key to improving livelihoods, reducing the burden of disease, and ensuring that no Kenyan is left behind due to the high cost of medical care.

His remarks come as the government continues implementing reforms in the health sector geared toward making healthcare more accessible, affordable, and efficient under the UHC framework.

As the country marks its 61st Labour Day, Duale extended his best wishes to all Kenyan workers, applauding their contribution to national development and reiterating the Ministry of Health’s resolve to support a strong healthcare system that serves every citizen.

“Happy Labour Day to all Kenyans,” Duale said, in a message of appreciation and solidarity with workers across the nation.
