Preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 have gained momentum as key stakeholders from East Africa convene in Kampala for a high-level planning workshop aimed at ensuring the tournament’s success.
The two-day meeting brings together officials from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania under the PAMOJA Local Organising Committee (LOC), alongside a delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The CAF team is led by Acting Secretary General Samson Adamu, who is spearheading discussions on behalf of the continental football body.
The workshop focuses on reviewing the progress made so far in preparations for the 2027 tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the three East African nations.
Delegates are working to identify practical solutions to existing challenges, with an emphasis on delivering the competition on schedule and to international standards.
Representatives from the host nations include government officials, football federation leaders, and senior members of the PAMOJA LOC.
Among the أبرز figures present are Hussein Mohammed of Kenya, Wallace Karia of Tanzania, and Moses H. Magogo of Uganda.
Speaking during the session, officials emphasized that the tournament represents more than just football. Beyond delivering a world-class competition on the pitch, the three nations aim to showcase East Africa’s rich cultural heritage, hospitality, and tourism potential to a global audience.
The PAMOJA initiative symbolizing unity among the host countries marks a historic collaboration as the region prepares to host one of Africa’s most prestigious sporting events.
The joint effort is expected to strengthen regional ties while boosting infrastructure development and economic growth.
