Echoes of loss: Mamboleo murder stirs grief as family, friends say Charles Aswani was ‘humble, loved peace’

A wave of grief has engulfed Mamboleo in Kisumu County following the brutal killing of 31-year-old Charles Aswani on Sunday night.

His family is demanding swift justice, urging the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to intensify investigations and bring the perpetrators to book.

According to relatives, Aswani was a calm and hardworking young man with no known disputes. They insist that their last conversations with him showed no signs of danger.

“Charles was a peaceful soul who never quarreled with anyone. His death has left us broken and searching for answers,” said a family member.

Detectives from the DCI have launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the murder. Preliminary reports suggest the killing may have been linked to a love affair dispute. It is alleged that a suspect left a chilling message on the wall of Aswani’s house before fleeing. Investigators noted that no property was stolen, strengthening suspicions that the motive was purely to end his life.

Friends of the deceased echoed the family’s sentiments, describing him as a man of integrity who valued community ties.

“He was humble, loved peace, and had good relations with everyone around him,” said one of his close friends.

The family has expressed deep sorrow and frustration, calling on authorities to expedite the investigation. They want suspects arrested and prosecuted without delay, reflecting growing concern among residents of Kisumu about rising insecurity.

Aswani hailed from Askote village in Vihiga County. His body is preserved at the mortuary. Meanwhile, police continue to piece together evidence to establish the full circumstances of the crime.

The incident has sparked conversations about personal safety and the need for stronger law enforcement. For now, the family of Charles Aswani waits anxiously for answers, hoping that justice will be served.

His death has left behind echoes of loss that continue to stir grief across Mamboleo and beyond.
