ENA Coach revises bus fares following EPRA fuel price hike

Following the recent fuel price review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, ENA Coach has announced revised bus fare charges across several routes nationwide.

Under the new rates, passengers traveling from Nairobi to upcountry destinations via Narok will pay KSh1,700, while those using the Nakuru route will be charged KSh1,800. The Nairobi–Mombasa route has been revised to KSh2,000, while Kisii–Kisumu passengers will now pay KSh700. Travelers between Mombasa and upcountry destinations will part with KSh3,000.

The new fares take effect immediately.

“We fully understand the impact of cost changes on our customers, and this decision has been made with great consideration and responsibility. Our commitment remains unwavering to ensure safety, operational excellence, and provision of exemplary services,” ENA said in a statement.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority announced new fuel prices that took effect on Friday, May 15, and will remain in force until June 14, 2026, following the latest monthly review under the Petroleum Act 2019.

Under the revised prices, Super Petrol and Diesel have increased by KSh16.65 and KSh46.29 per litre respectively, while the price of kerosene remains unchanged.

EPRA said the prices are inclusive of VAT and adjusted excise duty rates, adding that the government will cushion consumers by spending approximately KSh5 billion from the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) Fund to subsidize diesel and kerosene prices.

The regulatory attributed the increase to rising global fuel import costs.

The average landed cost of imported Super Petrol rose by 10 percent from US$823.27 per cubic metre in March to US$906.23 in April. Diesel recorded the sharpest increase, rising by 20.32 per cent from US$1,073.82 to US$1,291.98 per cubic metre, while Kerosene increased by 1.59 per cent to US$1,332.73 per cubic metre.
