Kenyan golf set for boost with new nationwide tournament

Kenya’s golfing landscape is set for a major boost following the launch of the Duracoat Golf Masters Series 2026, a nationwide golf circuit expected to strengthen competition and provide greater opportunities for amateur golfers across the country.

The series will feature 12 qualifying tournaments hosted at some of Kenya’s top golf clubs, including Karen Country Club, Muthaiga Golf Club, Sigona Golf Club, Nyali Country Club, Nakuru Golf Club, Limuru Country Club, Nyanza Sports Club, and Nanyuki Sports Club.

The circuit tees off on May 22 and will run throughout the season before culminating in a grand finale scheduled for November 28 at Mt. Kipipiri Golf Club.

Organizers say the tournament is designed to expand access to competitive golf by creating a structured national circuit that allows players from different regions to compete consistently at a high level.

Unlike many local competitions concentrated in Nairobi, the series will cover multiple regions, giving golfers exposure to different course conditions and playing environments.

Players will also be allowed to participate in up to three qualifying events, increasing their chances of securing spots in the grand finale while raising the level of competition throughout the season.

Officials from the Kenya Golf Federation and the Kenya Golf Union welcomed the initiative, saying more tournaments are essential for developing local talent and improving the standards of Kenyan golf.

The competition is expected to benefit both experienced amateurs and emerging golfers seeking more exposure and tournament experience.

Kenya has continued to grow its reputation as one of Africa’s leading golf destinations, supported by world-class courses and a growing calendar of local and international events.

Stakeholders believe the Duracoat Golf Masters Series could play a key role in strengthening the country’s golfing ecosystem by increasing participation, enhancing competition among clubs, and creating a stronger pathway for the next generation of golfers.
