Kiambu: Robbers break into a High School, kill watchman and escape with property

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday June 3, 2024 launched investigation into the murder of a 45-year-old private security guard at a school in Kiambu.

According to the police report, the robbery incident happened at All Saints Cianda High School on Saturday night where a group of thugs broke in and made away with valuable items.

Speaking during a press briefing, Kiambu police commander Michael Muchiri said that during the break-in, the gang tragically killed Nicholas Angwenyi when he attempted to make alerts.

Muchiri also added that the gang broke into the staffroom and some classes before escaping with items worth millions of shillings.

The security guard’s body was found in a pool of blood with deep cuts on the back. His body was moved to the mortuary for autopsy as police continue with investigations.

Police also confirmed that no suspect has been arrested so far, in relation to the robbery incident.

Meanwhile, security guards’ union boss, Isaac Andabwa, strongly condemned the murder and urged authorities to prioritize justice in the case.

“Guards are always victims in such incidents and all we ask is for authorities to ensure the man’s family gets justice,” he said.

A similar incident also happened three weeks ago in Rongo town where a watchman was killed at night and some school items stolen from Rongo primary school.
