Local authorities in Athi River, Machakos County have launched investigations after a girl died in a police vehicle.
The girl was allegedly defiled by her 30-year-old father on a fateful Sunday evening.
The Machakos police had taken both the father and the daughter in for questioning.
The 14 year old girl was a grade 5 pupil at a local school in Machakos. On that day she was attending to her assignments while her father was away watching a football match.
He allegedly committed the act shortly after returning home.
The daughter then lain in pain half conscious while neighbours alerted police officers to the scene.
According to a police report the girl died shortly after being picked up by the officers.
Angry residents from Ndovoini village in Muthwani, Machakos County demanded severe punishment for the immoral indecency of the man.
The case was reported at Kyumbi Police station as a suspected murder/incest incident report. The unfortunate occurrence happened in Lukenya location Machakos.
The suspect is under police custody and is set to be taken to court.

Further reports also showed that the bad weather occasioned by the heavy rains prompted the girl’s demise before she could receive medical care.
Her body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives attached to Kyumbi police station have taken over the investigations.
