Mombasa garment worker strikes Gold, Wins KSH15 Million Jackpot

Zablon Katana Kahindi, a 32-year-old garment worker from Ganze Village in Kilifi County, is celebrating a life-changing KES 15 million win after hitting the Betika Midweek Jackpot. Kahindi, affectionately known as Beja, staked a mere 15 shillings on the jackpot, defying the odds to become the newest millionaire in town.

Beja, who irons garments at a local Mombasa apparel factory, placed his winning bet on the evening of Friday, April 11th, after a long day at work.

He credits his fiancée, Vicky, a junior school teacher, for encouraging him to try the Midweek Jackpot. While he initially focused on the Aviator game, Vicky’s encouragement and stories of her friends’ winnings inspired him to try his luck with the jackpot.

“I started playing Aviator last year, but it’s my fiancée, Vicky, who encouraged me to try the Midweek Jackpot,” Beja shared. “She told me her friends had won before, and although my first attempt was disappointing, I told myself I’d try again—but with discipline. I never spend more than KES 15 a day.”

Beja plans to use his winnings to build a better house for his parents, purchase a plot to build rental houses for long-term income, and finally pursue his education. “I got a C+ in high school but couldn’t afford university fees. Now I can finally pursue my education,” he said.

Betika Group CEO Mutua Mutava congratulated Beja, emphasizing the company’s commitment to responsible betting. “Beja’s story is one of hope, resilience, and the power of believing in better,” Mutava said. “His first thoughts were not of luxury, but of building a better home for his parents, investing in long-term income, and returning to school to pursue his dreams.”

Betika is committed to providing financial guidance and long-term support to Beja as he navigates his newfound wealth. Beja’s win marks a heartwarming success story and reaffirms Betika’s mission of creating a real impact in the lives of everyday Kenyans.
